So, I challenged Diana of the North, AKA Madame Veruca, to start blogging, I mean, she's funny, articulate, has huge amounts of experience in so many areas and it should all be shared. So, what did I do?
"I'll start blogging if you do."
How long ago was that? Yea, a month.
When I sit with friends and start engaging in the conversation du jour, I found that I, too, am funny, articulate (occasionally), have lots of experiences under my belt, so, why shouldn't I?
Then I think of Kathy's blog...well written, thoughtful, subtle, informative, again, many projects in the written word completed, including a dissertation.
How could I even compare to the words of wisdom I have regularly heard and seen from these women!
Yes, yea. I heard it, too. "COMPARE" Why am I comparing myself to these women? The answer would be to intimidate myself out of blogging in the first place.
Mark Twain once said, "Better to be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."
Maybe, I am a fool, maybe a sage, but I'm, likely, somewhere in between. Today a woman told me I should do stand up comedy. My response to her was that I am only good for sound bites. I had been told that a career in comedy would suite me so many times that I actually thought about it. But, knowing myself as well as I do, understood that I wouldn't want to work that hard and 'sound bites' was as far as that would go.
Self knowledge, really, is the beginning of all wisdom and I know I'm smart, well-educated, funny, have a wealth of experiences to draw from, I have more issues than time magazine and can be as subtle as blunt force trauma.
So, welcome to my blog, and if we are all really lucky I will share something that might help you along your path as you live your life. And, maybe, I can read my own words and understand something that I've been missing before the universe reaches for a 'clue by four' in order to give me another opportunity to grow beyond my current understandings.
Hey, I can hope. Because sometimes that's all we've got.
