When helping family, you just do.

Back in June my mother passed away. My brother spent a huge amount of his life taking care of both her and my father, who passed in 2002. Please, follow the link to YouCaring.org and read our story. If you can help, I would be grateful.

So, It Goes

I'm off of the crutches and the immobilization brace in lieu of a soft brace and being very careful. My version of 'being careful' is, likely, a bit different than most. So, taking stairs is  a thoughtful process, as well as getting into and out of the car.

The orthopedist said the damage is patella related cartilage and probably some meniscus involvement as well. It's never a good thing when your orthopedist says, 'Eewww.' at the noise your knee makes when you move it.
An MRI is next and we will see what rolls from there.

I'm still doing strength training, upper body and abs are fair game. And, kick boxing is highly modified and not really a kicking type activity. However, punching sets will definitely get the heart rate up, so that really feels good
All in all, I'm frightened of the possibilities regarding this, but will keep myself going because, what else am I suppose to do?

The Universe Knee Capped Me.

It's the 4th of July. I spent the afternoon in the ER. I was standing, talking to a student at work. I shifted my weight, felt something snap, a stabbing pain and my knee collapsed out from under me. The only thing that stopped me from hitting the ground was my ninja-like reflexes as I caught myself on the half wall.
So, it's crutches and pain killers that do not kill the pain, it merely taunts it rudely.
I am not happy about any of this, but I am trying to open myself up to the universe to tell me what I've been missing. Usually, the only time something this painful happens is when I am failing to pay attention to clues. They start off small, and escalate into the 'clue by four' to the back of the head, or in this case to the knee.
