Christmas Eve

So, I have jumped through a few more hoops, and I am closer to getting my Kickstarter campaign off of the ground. However, I am, also, in the middle of a road trip. I was desperately feeling the need to see my daughter and grandbaby, along with friends I had left back in Ohio two years ago. I will continue to work on the project, get it out there and get Shifting Gears published.

I spent last night in a Crown Plaza Hotel in New Orleans. Not just in the city, but at Bourbon and Canal streets. Unfortunately, it had been an unexpectedly long drive that day and I wouldn't be able to check out the area either that evening nor that morning. So, I figured I would put my refridgeratables in the fridge and take in the view.

There was a couple of problems with that. First, no refrigerator. WTF? Okay, I can improvise. I mean, I am a soldier, adapt and overcome, right? Right. Ice bucket, ice. Done.
No microwave. Fine. I had lunch 7 hours ago, so a bowl of cereal it is, and I'm good.

Now, for the view. I pull back the curtains for a full blown view of a cement, block wall.

The most expensive hotel of my trip. Plus, $30.00 for overnight parking (the attendants were awesome, though) and I got nothing, but a place to stay that ranked right up there with the Holiday Inns I'd been staying at. No, wait. Let me amend that. The Holiday Inns that I'd been staying at had a refrigerator, microwave, a pleasant view and front desk people who could answer a question about my reservation.

Lesson learned; stay out of the city. Tours, shuttles or driving in for the day is much better than the Astoria Crown Plaza Hotel.

Now, it is Christmas Eve, I am in White House, TN for the night and will roll into Covington, KY tomorrow.
